Little cheese with that whine?

I'm whiney cuz my head hurts and it's midnight and I wanna be asleep, but I just got up after being in bed for an hour and a half. This is one of those rare (buĂochas le Dia - thank God) headaches that didn't go away with Excedrin. So now I'm whiney and awake and thinking I need to go to sleep cuz I have a singing telegram in the morning.
This picture has absolutely nothing to do with this post, but I thought it might make me feel better. And hmmmm..... waiting.... yup, it does! Liam drinking my milk. By the way, Liam only weighs in at 6.5 pounds. I'm beginning to believe the vet. He really is a mini-cat. Gonna go eat some crackers and try to go back to bed.

Post St. Patrick's

Things didn't happen exactly as planned, but we had a fantastic time anyway. We got a late start at Things Celtic, and then spent most of the day (as planned) at Mother Egan's. We sat around translating books... or rather, trying with our limited pooled knowledge. At one point we opened an Irish slang book. The translations were British English. Being the good solid Texans we are, we needed an interepreter for the ENGLISH. There was a good half of that book that we could not understand the English part of much less the Irish. Oh well, it was probably too colorful for our youthful innocence anyway.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

I'm up bright and early today to prepare for the big St. Patrick's Day festivities. I'm starting the day at Things Celtic. The Gaelic League is presenting a "thing" at 11AM. I will be singing a song and then teaching a song in Gaelic of course! Then I will run over to Mother Egans. This is all a lovely plan EXCEPT SXSW is going on.... For those who don't live in Austin and don't know about this HUGE monster of a music festival, yeah, it's a HUGE music festival and it happens all over Austin mainly downtown where the bars are. Mother Egans is a bar, and it is downtown.... Are you seeing the problem, yet? Well, hopefully with the aid of Dan's taxi service, I shouldn't have too much problem. There will be traffic, but we think we can drive down 8th which is 2 blocks over from where the bar is on 6th, drop me off, and he can turn to come home on 11th away from 6th where all the bars are. It'll be fun! Hope you're wearing green. If not consider this a *pinch*! Show some pride - have some fun!

Technology

Very cool... very creepy!I just got one of those GPS thingys that can tell you exactly where to go no matter where you are BECAUSE it knows where I am!!! It can track me down the hall of my house.... It can tell if I turn and face the other way. That's pretty creepy. But I can turn it off.... and I CAN'T wait to test it out on my next journey to a new city. The absolutely coolest thing is that if you're hungry or maybe you need a hospital, in a couple of clicks it can tell you all the hospitals, restaurants (sorted by type), hotels, etc that are anywhere near you. That is REALLY cool! Never wander around Cleveland again looking for something, anything to eat and finally have to stop and ask a construction crew where food is in this town. Never get off a plane in Chicago wondering if the directions to the hotel will get us there. With this puppy, if there is construction and I am unable to take a road that the hotel had on their website in their directions from ten years ago that no one updates, it will reroute me when I am forced to take a different turn. Ahhhhhhhh.....
For those wondering, it is a Garmin C330. I'll let you know how I like it after our Lafayette, LA trip at the end of the month.

Spring time in Texas

It has been beautiful lately. 70's, 80's... blue sky.... Ahhhhhh.... Dan and I just finished creating this little garden oasis. All of these plants are pretty hardy. Only a couple of them are experiments. All the buckets are bottomless. Dan chopped them out and dug them into the ground. Then I got the pleasure of actually putting the plant in. Dan's going to mulch the space between the plants... but I am so happy with the way it looks and feels right now, that I had to post a picture. These windows are on a hall that extends the middle length of the house.
Here is the view from inside the hallway. Finally, we have something to look at. Obviously the cats like it too.

Website Updates

I chose a new cover picture from the batch that came back from the most recent shoot with Billy, my most fabulous photographer friend who needed a guinnea pig for a student of his. I also did some recording and posted a few songs. I have a Zoom H4 now. It is a great little gadget. I can recommend it and the sound files on my website can attest to the pretty good quality for a fairly reasonable price and not a lot of editing that needs to be done.

Liam

This little fuzzy man went to get neutered. What I thought was only a 4 month old kitten was actually a 6 month old runt according to the vet. He has made himself quite at home here as Pooh's apprentice. I only hope that Pooh doesn't squash him during one of these nap lessons.

Let there be light!

We finally took down the "Blades of Death". For those who never saw it, there was a huge metal fan installed into this small room. The fan not only was huge, but it hung down just above my head. If I raised my arms up over my head, my arms would have been chopped mid-forearm! I had wanted to remove the fan from day one but we never really had a good idea of what to put there instead, until I explored my ol' buddy Ebay! It's long arms are bendy and even hanging straight down don't extend down farther than the BoD did originally.

I took this picture toward the window cuz there you can see another improvement. My little plant shelf extends across the window. Plants are happy, I have light, and so far no cat has figured out how to get up on the plant shelf to eat the plants.

Sean

This is Sean (pronounced more like "Shan") meaning "old" in Irish. She's the oldest of the kitties we take care of. She comes around every now and then and eats... and recently as in Wednesday night, she became very sweet and trusting, even ramming her head into my cheek for this picture. She had what looked like a pretty ugly infection on her chin, so we took teh opportunity to take her to the vet, have the chin looked at and might as well get the poor girl spayed if needed. We took her to Emancipet on Thursday morning. She was spayed, and she is FIV+, which is much like HIV for humans. Sean seems to be doing well, but we will certainly have to monitor her and be prepared to deal with her illness as she will allow.
